Fall is the best time to do roofing projects because the weather is on your side. Hiring a roofing contractor is essential. Before you start your project, take a good look at your contract. Things should be clearly spelled out in your roofing estimate.
Jeff Woods Construction lists four of these.
1. What the Project Is and Who Is Responsible
Your contractor should be able to provide in certain terms the summarized details about your roofing project. This, of course, should include who is responsible and the start and completion dates. Another important detail that should be listed is the payment terms for the project itself.
2. Labor Costs
The roofing company should also plainly list the costs of labor and materials for your project. It’s also preferable if the roofer breaks down each part and their cost. This is important for your planning stage as, sometimes, your replacement project may require some repair, too. With the costs of labor spelled out, you can better plan the budget for your project.
3. Material and Roof Information
The estimate should also give you some basic information on the materials your roofing contractor will use. This includes underlayment, shingles and flashings, as well as the ventilation the will install on your roof. As your trusted local roofer, we make sure that the available warranties for your roof are also listed in your estimate.
4. Contractor License
Finally, make sure that your roofing contractor has a proof of roofing or a contractor license. Some states do not require proof of roofing, but it is always a good idea to ask for it. It adds a layer of assurance that the roofer can stand by the services they offer.
